In this activity, pupils are prompted to analyse and question a set of data, to think about how it is presented and how this affects the message that is communicated. Pupils use information in a spreadsheet. The open-ended nature of the task allows pupils to approach it at their own level. There is the opportunity to work towards many of the ‘Using and Applying mathematics’ objectives from years 7 to 11.
This investigation will help your pupils to:
- Read and interpret information in a wide variety of forms
- Make more accurate estimates
- Use a range of web based tools to support their mathematics in a real-life context
- Work as part of a team to develop strategies to solve a complex problem
The investigation is suitable for pupils across a wide range of levels across Key Stages 3 and 4.
