In this short activity, pupils find the area of ‘awkwardly-shaped’ triangles. Pupils use dynamic geometry software to manipulate the image of a triangle and calculate its area.

This short piece of work (less than a whole lesson) models how exploration of a dynamic image can deepen pupils' understanding. The lesson notes describe how to manipulate the image and suggest some questions to ask the pupils.
